Healthy Choice Week

Dear Parents & Carers,

We are excited to tell you that our Healthy Choice Week will be taking place week commencing 9^th May. All children across school will be taking part in multiple activities throughout the week.

Please take a look below at the important information. If you have any questions please feel free to contact the school office / your child’s class teacher where they will be happy to help.

Event Details:

Monday 9^th May 2022                     National lockdown’s have had a big impact on people’s mental health. As a school, we understand how important it is to keep our own minds positive and healthy. Mind Charity support people who struggle with their own mental health, providing confidential helplines, support networks and many other professional support across the country.

We want to support this wonderful charity too!

Getting active often makes you feel more positive, so we have decided to organise… Pinewood’s MIND obstacle course! The obstacle course will promote our school values of resilience, self-belief and self-confidence.

Weather permitting, there will be a large obstacle course set up on the playground. The course will involve lots of different challenges, including jumping and balancing and many other things! All children will be faced with the challenge of completing the entire course.

As a school we want to raise as much money as we can for Mind Charity. We have set ourselves a target of £250, we are confident that if each child raises at least £2, then we can easily achieve it! All donations can be made via the School Money app, reminders will be sent out closer to the event.

Please don’t forget send your child to school wearing their PE kit on this day.

Tuesday 10^th May 2022                   As part of this week’s F1 & F2 PE session, children will have the opportunity of trying out a multiple offer of new sports. This will be led by our fantastic PE Coach, Mr. West.

Wednesday 11^th May 2022             During the Year 1 & 2 PE session children will be participating in archery. This has been a very popular option during our afterschool sports club. We are pleased that all children will have the opportunity to take part in this different and unique sport. This activity will be led by our other PE coach Mr. Yates.

Thursday 12^th May 2022                 We are excited to tell you that the fantastic team from the Life Bus will be coming into school. Each class will take part in their own lesson based around healthy lifestyles and making the right choices.

Friday 13^th May 2022                       To finish off our Healthy Choices Week all children will to be making their own fruit kebabs / fruit salads! We will therefore ask families to provide a piece of fruit as contribution to your child’s class activity. Your class teacher will let parents know which fruit to bring in as part of the project. (All dietary requirements will be considered).
