Here at Pinewood we aim to instil a life- long love of the arts. We know how important a creative approach to learning is and try to make links with all areas of the curriculum whenever possible. Our high-quality art and design curriculum engages, inspires and challenges pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design.
Our school also takes part in our own version of the National Gallery ‘Take one Picture’ project on an annual basis. The whole school uses one painting as a starting point for all areas of the curriculum and then produces an exhibition in school to show all the amazing work they have produced linked to the painting. We have taken part in this project for the past few years and are extremely proud of the wonderful work the children manage to produce during this time. In addition, we work with a range of highly skilled artists, theatre groups, musicians and dancers to help support our children in developing skills across all areas of the arts. The children are also offered a range of art based extra-curricular clubs throughout the year, including dance, painting and sewing to name just a few. We gained the Artsmark in 2020. We are continually striving to further enrich and strengthen our arts and cultural provision within school.
Take One Picture- 2023
Pierre Auguste Renoir- The Umbrellas
We are so excited to be learning all about Renoir and his beautiful painting 'The Umbrellas'. The whole school will be exploring the painting through Art and Drama. We will be jumping into the painting and re-enacting it, taking characters from it, learning about Paris in 1800s and producing our own art work in response to it.
We will also be holding our very own Art Exhibition which is sure to be fantastic! Keep an eye out for your invites!
These are some comments about the exhibition from our parents/carers . . . Everyone loved it!
