Hello my name is Rachel and I am the current Chair of Governors for Pinewood. I have been a co-opted governor since 2017 and I live locally to the school. I have two daughters who have been exceptionally lucky to have attended Pinewood for the start of their educational journey - we all look back fondly on our time at Pinewood and it has given them solid foundations for them to build on as they have moved up to the linked Junior school and then onto secondary school. What impresses me about Pinewood is the lovely, welcoming atmosphere where all children are encouraged to develop a love of learning. We have a wonderful staff team that go above and beyond to support our pupils and their families and the community.
In terms of my Governance background, I had been a Governor not long after leaving university; however, I was keen to get back into it when my children reached school age, and the new perspective as a parent has been very valuable. After joining the Pinewood team in 2017, I was then invited to support governance at our linked Killisick Junior School and took on the Chair position in 2019 - this has given me an invaluable insight into the next chapter of our children's education and enables me to support our community across both schools. Having enjoyed being involved with governance as a volunteer, in 2022 I took on a professional role as Governance Officer for a Nottingham based Multi Academy Trust. I have 27 academy governing bodies to support which gives me a fantastic opportunity to see governance practice elsewhere and develop my own skills to support Pinewood.
