7 Conversation Topics about Online Safety for Parents!

Talking about the online world with your child can be tricky! As a result of this, we would like to share a series of 7 questions from national online safety (NOS) that will help you start an initial conversation with your child, so you have a better understanding of what they do online and how you can protect them. Additionally, it’s important to note that regular conversations with your child about the Internet will help your child to build confidence when talking about online issues, and therefore help to build trust too.

Safer Internet Day 2020

This year Safer Internet Day was on Tuesday 11thFebruary 2020. It was a day when we celebrated all of the great things about being online and reminded ourselves how we can stay safe. This included a whole school assembly, class circle time sessions and lots of fun activities. This year’s Safer Internet Day’s theme was about self-identity online ‘Free to be Me’. This is a very important topic for our children as they are growing up in a world that is becoming more connected through social media and technology. We want our children to know how to express themselves online safely and be proud of who they are.

To help celebrate Safer Internet Day ‘Free to be me’ we asked the children to create a piece of work online at home using Purple Mash which celebrated who they are. We then asked them share it on our display board on Purple Mash. We were amazed by all of the super work shared by the children. See all of the amazing pictures below!

Internet Safety Day whole school assembly 2020

Our Internet Safety work!

Safer Internet Day 2019 - We all took part in a whole school assembly where we highlighted the importance of internet safety and reviewed our SMART rules. We then each made a SMART rules poster to display around school and had a competition in each year group for the best one! The Investors in Pupils team picked the winning posters from each year and handed out the chocolate prizes.

Congratulations to our winners...
